The role:

Manage and deliver key digital projects aimed at increasing retail income and enhancing communications to staff via an intranet site.

The charity has 100+ retail stores throughout England and Scotland, which are represented through the main social media pages, but have exciting plans to develop a retail focused, local social media strategy to enhance footfall and increase income. We need to recruit a strong digital project expert to deliver this project.

Initially the local social strategy will focus on a few stores with the aim of creating a blueprint which enhances engagement local to each store, increases footfall and income, which could then be rolled out to additional stores.

Secondly, this role will be required to support the e-commerce strategy by ensuring the charity’s suite of digital channels are optimised for e-commerce, plus supporting the management of 3rd party channels such as Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace to ensure they complement native digital channels and are on-brand.    

This role will also be responsible for developing the staff intranet site and creating an effective content plan which will see the intranet as a key channel for reliable information and support for staff.

Other smaller digital projects also to be fulfilled by this role.

Qualifications and experience:

Personal qualities:

  • A digital projects expert ideally with retail experience; either retail social media content planning and delivery or e-commerce, with a strong understanding of the capabilities of social media channels in the retail landscape, particularly Facebook and Instagram. Internal comms/intranet experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Your key skills will include – strategic thinking, being able to plan and strategise as well as hands on delivery You must be achievement oriented with a pro-active approach with the ability to meet challenging targets and overcome obstacles.  You need the ability to hit the ground running and be able to demonstrate accuracy and excellent attention to detail.  You will definitely have previous experience in a digital role within retail or similar and previous digital project experience.  You will be able to demonstrate excellent strategy, planning and organisation skills and expertise in retail digital/social/e-commerce strategy, development, delivery and analytics.
